by Staff Writer / Toronto Maple Leafs

(March 14, 2006) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday that defenceman Brendan Bell and goaltender J.S. Aubin have been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Bell, 22, leads all Marlies defencemen with 31 assists and 36 points and has recorded 95 penalty minutes in 63 games.

Bell was the Maple Leafs' third choice, 65th overall in the 2001 Entry Draft.  Bell is looking to play in his first National Hockey League game.

Aubin, 28, was recalled earlier in the season (December 12) and backed up Mikael Tellqvist in a 3-2 Leafs home win over Anaheim that day. He has a record of 19-18-2 to go along with a 3.03 goals against average in 46 games played with the Toronto Marlies this season. The native of Montreal, Quebec was signed by the Leafs as an unrestricted free agent on August 18, 2005.
