Vincent Lecavalier among Cosmo's Sexiest Hockey Player List

by Peter Pupello / Tampa Bay Lightning

The people have spoken.

Teammates of Vincent Lecavalier would like to know who the people are, though.

The powers that be at Cosmopolitan Magazine released a list this week of the "Hottest Hockey Players of 2013," and wouldn't you know it, the Lightning captain made the cut along with 29 other NHL superstars.

The criteria for the list's inclusion was in question Friday morning within the  Brandon Ice Sports Forum locker room, where Lecavalier's Lightning teammates sounded off and let their own beguiled voices be heard in friendly protest.

"It was probably one of those vote-in things where he just sat in front of the computer and voted for himself a thousand times," center Steven Stamkos said. "That's the only way I could see him getting in."

Teddy Purcell, by the way, was stunned.

"His style was good back in the day, but now he has three kids so his style has really gone downhill," Purcell said. "I'm really surprised."

For those keeping score at home, Lecavalier actually has just two kids at home, with another on the way.

Adam Hall, though perplexed, attempted to see  if there was some validity.

"He really isn't really his type," Hall said. "There must be some flawed voting out there if he's on the list."

The  fact that Lecavalier made the list among other NHL'ers  like Jaromir Jagr, Phil Kessel and Scott Hartnell further muddled the rankings.

"Jaromir Jagr is on there?" defenseman Brendan Mikkelson added. "I feel bad then for Vinny. Doesn't that bring the list down a little bit?"

It does actually, at least according to Matt Carle.

"I saw Hartnell was on the list too," Carle said. "So I'm not really sure what to think."

Trouble is, no one does.

Nowhere on Cosmo's web site does it list the criteria for being selected, nor did Lecavalier even know he made the list in the first place until he was informed by feature reporter Brittany Zion.

Brian Lee questioned having a list at all.

"I don't consider any players in this league to be sexy," Lee said.

Lecavalier was asked for comment, by the way, but chose not to speak about the topic on his own accord.

He should know though, that he did have a few supporters in the room.

Dana Tyrell admitted that the Lightning captain is "an attractive guy."

Nate Thompson added, "Yeah, I guess he's good looking. Good for him."
