The Lightning got out of Pittsburgh early Friday morning and arrived at the hotel in Plantation before 1 p.m. That left plenty of time for everyone to relax or head out to the mall. A steady stream of Lightning staffers opted for a run around the area's strip malls and business parks.

The team had a mandatory skate this morning after the Panthers got done, with Paul Ranger and Jeff Halpern sitting out. Halpern's abdominal strain will keep him out tonight, but he's optimistic about playing Tuesday night when the Panthers visit the St. Pete Times Forum. Doug Janik will skate at forward again tonight, and Jason Ward will be back in the lineup after sitting out Thursday.
