Let become your destination for all the latest Lightning scoops. The Lightning Insider will be in the stands, in the locker room and on the road with the team throughout the 2007-08 season to provide you with a positive look at the Bolts as they pursue Lord Stanley’s hardware. Our resident snoop will post the latest following practices and morning skates, and he’ll make sure you’re the first to know when the Lightning are making news.  Have a question or comment for The Insider?  Send me an email at

After last night's gut-wrenching overtime loss in Buffalo, the Lightning headed to the airport for a short, quiet flight to a private airport in Farmingdale on Long Island. The team reached the hotel in Garden City before 1 a.m., but today's morning skate was canceled in lieu of an 11:30 meeting in the hotel. Thanks to the NHL schedule-makers this season for making sure we had no nights to go out for dinner on our two trips to Garden City, with its quaint main street cafes and restaurants, while giving us two nights in Buffalo!

The Islanders are one of the curiosities of this season for me, because I honestly didn't think they had a team that would contend for a playoff spot. Kudos to Isles coach Ted Nolan for getting the most out of his lineup, and I guess it doesn't hurt to have Rick DiPietro backing your team up.

Former bolt Ruslan Fedotenko, one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet (guess it goes along with the rosy cheeks), seems to be getting hot for the Isles lately as they continue their push for a playoff spot. We wish Ruslan well, just not tonight. Isles troublemaker Chris Simon is eligible to return from his lengthy suspension tonight, but it's unlikely he'll be in the lineup.

For the Bolts, John Tortorella said that Karri Ramo will be in goal tonight and Andreas Karlsson will be in the lineup in place of Andre Roy.
