It's a beautiful morning in Vancouver today. The sun is finally out and it's warm! The seaplanes are taking off and landing in the harbor behind our hotel, and the ski slopes on Grouse Mountain are clearly visible across the water above North Vancouver. If the weather was like this more often Vancouver would have even more of a population problem, but the frequent rain takes care of that issue. It's still the best Canadian city to visit, though, with Calgary a little ways behind.

The Lightning have been hit by a bug the past couple of days, though it seems to have claimed more of the staff than the players. Head Coach Rick Tocchet, tv color commentator Bobby Taylor, strength coach Chuck Lobe, Director of Team Services Ryan Belec and yours truly have all fallen victim. It's no surprise considering the amount of coughing that was going on during Wednesday's flight here.

It was a crowded morning skate at GM Place today as a total of 59 guests, mostly friends of owner Len Barrie and veteran Mark Recchi, filled the stands to see the Bolts. Karri Ramo will be in goal again tonight and Interim Head Coach Rick Tocchet said he's planning to play Steven Stamkos with Martin St. Louis and Mark Recchi tonight. Could be the makings of a dynamic line.

Winger Evgeny Artyukhin took a bad fall in practice yesterday but looked fine this morning. Defenseman Matt Smaby didn't skate yesterday but was back out there this morning, and Lukas Krajicek skated the past two days. Both could be ready to go tonight.
