-- Hockey's Future.com, the #1 hockey prospect site, has released its Fall, 2008 ranking of the top 50 NHL prospects. This feature, which is released by the site twice per season, is one of the most popular features at Hockey's Future.com. Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Steven Stamkos
tops the list, followed by Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price and Phoenix Coyotes forward prospect Kye Turris. Defenseman Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings is ranked fourth on this list, while left winger James VanRiemsdyk is ranked fifth. Rounding out the top 10 are Columbus Blue Jackets right winger Jakub Voracek; right winger Kyle Okposo of the New York Islanders; defenseman Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues; goaltender Jonathan Bernier of the Los Angeles Kings; and defenseman Karl Alzner of the Washington Capitals.
A committee of writers from Hockey's Future.com compiled the list, with the players included meeting the prospect criteria set forth by the site. The ranked players, as well as those that did not make the final list, come from many of the top developmental leagues in hockey, including the AHL, OHL, QMJHL, WHL, NCAA and Europe. The entire top 50 can be viewed at http://www.hockeysfuture.com/hockey_top_50_prospects/
"Anyone that is familiar with the "Seen Stamkos?" ad campaign now knows where to find him", said Ken McKenna, Managing Editor of Hockey's Future.com. "He is sitting atop the hockey prospect world as the player deemed by Hockey's Future as the best, young prospect in the game. And Carey Price and Kyle Turris round out the top three of a top 50 listing that is sure to generate plenty of conversation among hockey fans and fantasy hockey participants."
The next Hockey's Future top 50 will be released in April, 2009.
