Steven Stamkos battled through final month of the season with a shoulder injury

by Peter Pupello / Tampa Bay Lightning
As if Steven Stamkos scoring 60 goals in a single season wasn’t already impressive enough, consider this:

The Lightning forward battled through an injured left shoulder for the final month of the regular season.

Stamkos revealed that the injury is not thought to be serious, although he did undergo an MRI exam as a precaution. The results are expected back Tuesday.

Once the results of the MRI come back, Stamkos will make a decision on whether or not he will suit up for Team Canada at the 2012 World Championships.

Stamkos also said he was not aware of when the injury occurred.
