Since my last blog we've played some pretty good hockey. Some of the outcomes haven't been quite what we've wanted, but a lot of the things that we've been doing are good. We've had some pretty exciting games – we won a really great game in Montreal. Obviously road games have been a bit defeating for us and it had been a while since we'd gotten one. Now it's time for us to put something together.
Guys are all upbeat and excited about playing right now. The challenges are laid out every day, but guys are getting the job done.
It's weird, after the season we've been having, you look at it, and we're only six points out of third place, and not too far out of eighth, for a playoff spot. Everyone's kind of in the same position. We know we have the guys to do it, we know how good we play when we play our game and not get away from our game plan, so the guys are really positive. Everything seems to be moving forward.
The atmosphere in the locker room is really good right now. It's an exciting time of year. Right now, the coaches are helping us to focus on the games and not so much about the upcoming break. It's a good schedule and they're teams that we haven't played our best against, so we definitely need to do that. Everyone remembers what happened the last time we were in Atlanta, losing 4-3 in overtime after leading late in the third, so we have to redeem ourselves. It's a good test and it will be a good challenge. Our practice today was very business-like – all the guys are in that frame of mind right now. I don’t think anyone's looking past Saturday and talking about the holidays or anything like that. It hasn't even really been brought up in the room which is a good thing, at least in the sports world, because you don't want to be extending yourself too much and getting distracted.
I'm going to have dinner with my buddy, Morgan, in Atlanta tonight. I've got to get all the plans ready for the Sevendust show on Dec. 29 at Jannus Landing with the guys. I'm going to try to go in there today and get all that done. Other than that, that's pretty much it.
Unfortunately I don't have time to do any questions right now. I'm on my way to catch the plane for Atlanta and I have to figure out a way to get my wife her keys back that I left in my pocket. I can't leave her stranded for two days! I have been getting the questions and I promise I'll get to them as soon as I can.
Until next time, Go Bolts!
