TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning will be giving away free preseason tickets to those fans who make a $5 or $10 donation to the Salvation Army’s Hurricane Ike relief efforts on Monday, September 22 when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tuesday, September 23 when they take on the New York Rangers.
The Salvation Army will be in front of the McDonald’s Box Office on the Chrysler-Jeep Plaza at 5 p.m. prior to each game to accept donations. Fans who donate $5 will receive a terrace level ticket while those who donate $10 will receive a plaza level ticket.
To date the Salvation Army has dispatched 60 mobile feeding units and more than 80 personnel to areas affected by Hurricane Ike, serving more than 20,749 hot meals, sandwiches, snacks and drinks. They have also stockpiled 45,000 cleaning kits, including brooms, buckets, mops and detergent.
The Salvation Army’s disaster response activities are supported entirely through the generosity of individual and organizational donations. In the early stages of a disaster, the Army acts first on the faith to meet the immediate needs of those affected by the storms in hopes that donations will follow to fund a sustained disaster response and recovery operation.
