Lightning, Sports Authority Team Up With Local Charity For Holiday Shopping Event

The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Lightning Foundation are pleased to announce their participation in a shopping event, sponsored by Sports Authority, to benefit children and adolescents from the University Area Community Development Corporation.

On Tuesday, December 8, Lightning forwards James Wright, Zenon Konopka, Steve Downie and Lightning Television Color Commentator Bobby “the Chief” Taylor will accompany children from the local charity to the Sports Authority, located at 4900 W. Kennedy Blvd., from 5:30-7 p.m. to purchase holiday gifts for themselves, as well as friends and family members.

The University Area Community Development Corporation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization whose mission is to obtain the necessary resources, support and direction to improve and sustain a thriving community where great social, financial, educational and health-related challenges exist.

The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Lightning Foundation would also like to extend a special gesture of gratitude to Sports Authority for partnering up to make this wonderful event possible in advance of the upcoming holiday season.
