Lightning Sign G Mike McKenna

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goaltender Mike McKenna today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced.

McKenna, 6 foot 2, 195 pounds, has played in 24 games with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League this season. He has posted an 11-10-1 record with one shutout, a 2.97 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, McKenna has played in 76 career AHL games with Milwaukee, Omaha, Portland and Norfolk, posting a 39-26-3 record with four shutouts. He has a 3.01 career goals-against average. McKenna has played in six career Calder Cup Playoff games.

McKenna played college hockey at St. Lawrence University where he appeared in 95 games and posted a 32-44-8 record with a 2.85 goals-against average. He is the school’s career record holder for games played and minutes (5,236).

He was selected by Nashville in the sixth round, 172nd overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
