Lightning Set To Host Military Night in Observance of Veterans Day
by Staff Writer / Tampa Bay LightningBeginning at 4:30 p.m., Military Night will kick off with a number of great events on the plaza including a display of military combat vehicles, a free concert for fans featuring musical guest Colt Clark and an opportunity for fans to write thank-you letters to be distributed to troops currently serving our country abroad. Lightning players will also sign autographs on an American flag to show their support. In addition, the Lightning and Metropolitan Ministries will hold a holiday food drive in which fans may donate non-perishable food items and canned goods to help feed the homeless in Tampa Bay during the upcoming season.
The action will continue inside the arena shortly after the puck drop, as a future soldier swearing-in ceremony will be conducted and displayed on Lightning Vision and a video of Lightning players saluting our troops will be shown as well as soldier fan shout-outs and more.
Those interested in attending the game can also take advantage of two great ticket offers. For just $125, fans may purchase a seat in the Brickwall Productions Club, which includes all-you-can-eat-and-drink food and beverages plus the opportunity to watch the game with Lightning alumni. Another option is to purchase any ticket at the special group rate to receive an equal number of tickets to be donated to the military in the buyer’s name.
All individuals are advised to arrive early, as the first 2,500 Lightning fans in attendance will receive a Ryan Malone collectible trading card sheet.
Following Military Night, a commemorative Veterans Day ceremony and concert will be held on Wednesday, November 10, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Joe Chillura Courthouse Square in downtown Tampa. Those who have served as well as those who are currently serving our nation’s military will be honored with a speech by Admiral Eric Olson of the United States Navy and U.S. Special Operations Command, and will also be recognized by other civic leaders including Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and others.
