The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled defenseman Paul Ranger from Springfield of the American Hockey League, Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced.

Ranger, 21, appeared in 69 games with the Falcons in 2003-04, scoring three goals and adding eight assists with 46 penalty minutes. To date this season Ranger has two assists in one game played. He finished Springfield's first game, a 4-2 victory against Portland, with a plus-1 rating.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Whitby, Ontario was selected by the Lightning in the sixth round, 183rd overall at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Ranger spent four seasons with the Oshawa Generals in the OHL, appearing in 224 games and scoring 22 goals with 91 points.
