TAMPA BAY - As the National Hockey League pauses to allow its players to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, the Tampa Bay Lightning is offering its fans the chance to renew season tickets for the 2014-15 regular season and reserve their seats for potential home playoff games in 2014. With 24 games remaining in the 2014-15 regular season, the Lightning currently rest in second place in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference with a 33-20-5 record for 71 points, the third best point total in the conference.
"We believe this break in the season is the perfect time to launch our renewal campaign, allowing our season ticket members a chance to guarantee themselves seating for the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs," said Lightning Chief Operating Officer Steve Griggs. "We are confident the team will continue with its successful season on the ice over our final 24 games and we look forward to hosting postseason action this spring."
Season Ticket Members (STM's) will receive a ticket renewal package from the Lightning in the mail this week detailing their options for the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs and the 2014-15 regular season, but the easiest way to secure those tickets will be to visit the website bethethunder.com. The Lightning will continue to offer "Cheer Now, Pay Later," for potential postseason games, allowing fans to attend and watch the games before being billed for them. Fans can secure this option by committing to season tickets for the 2014-15 with a 20 percent commitment by the renewal deadline of March 14, 2014.
Lightning fans that are not currently Season Ticket Members can also secure priority seating for any 2014 Stanley Cup playoff games by committing to season tickets for the 2014-15 season by the same March 14, 2014 deadline. Single game playoff tickets would be made available after that deadline and once the Lightning are guaranteed a position in the postseason.
In addition to bethethunder.com, fans can secure 2014-15 season tickets and 2014 postseason tickets by visiting a season ticket renewal kiosk (located at sections 129, 211 and 308) during Lightning home games, by calling the Lightning sales team at 813.301.6600 or by returning a completed invoice through the mail.
The Olympic break will last more than two weeks, with the Lightning next playing in Nashville on February 27. After a four-game road trip to "re-start" the season, 14 of the Lightning's last 20 games will be played at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, starting with a matchup against the Buffalo Sabres on March 6. Eight of the Eastern Conference's 16 teams will make the 2014 playoffs, three from each division (Atlantic, Metropolitan), along with two wild cards teams – those having the best record regardless of division.
