The Official Site of the Tampa Bay Lightning

by Staff Writer / Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning Foundation, MetroPCS and The Arts Center have partnered for Art on Ice, an art outreach program for youth and their families at Tampa Bay Lightning home games. Official kick-off of this new interactive art area is Saturday, February 3, when the Lightning face the New York Rangers (7:30 p.m., Sun Sports, AM 620 WDAE).

Art on Ice, presented by MetroPCS, will feature an interactive art area designed especially for kids and families located behind sections 323-324 at the St. Pete times Forum. Starting at 5:30 p.m. and continuing through the end of the first intermission on game nights, participants will work with Arts Center staff on rotating themed art projects including clay necklaces, Lightning pennants and hockey stick painting. Participants will take their completed artwork home with them, while also receiving a free giveaway.

The Arts Center has participated at special events with the Lightning Foundation including The Reindeer Run, Ice Fest, and Coach John Tortorella's Street Hockey Day.

The Arts Center is a 501 c 3, non-profit, located in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The Arts Center inspires, educates, and engages a diverse population in the creation of contemporary visual art by providing a dynamic, professional environment to foster the creative process, allowing artists and the community to meet and exchange ideas. We offer extensive studio arts classes at all levels across a wide variety of media, and we exhibit outstanding recent contemporary work by local, regional, national and international artists through an extensive program of rotating exhibits created by student, emerging, mid-career and established artists.

The Lightning Foundation is dedicated to the support of local organizations that enrich and enhance the lives of those living throughout the Tampa Bay community. In gratitude for the support and passion of the community, the Foundation will focus its unique resources to advance amateur hockey and educational enrichment opportunities for children and families, along with medical research and treatment for those in need. Our "GOAL" is to make Tampa a better place to live, work and play!
