In the midst of a four-game point-scoring streak, Vincent Lecavalier was named one of the NHL's "Three Stars" of the Week for the second time in December.

Lecavalier was named the Third Star for the week ending December 24 after leading the Tampa Bay Lightning in a three-game winning streak. During the week Lecavalier posted six points (three goals, three assists) through three games, including two multi-point games against the Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators.

During the December 19, 2006, game against Washington, Lecavalier scored his 200th career goal on the power play at 17:15 of opening period. Lecavalier added two assists on the night for his fifth game with three or more points this season.

Returning from the holiday break, the Lightning center extended his point-scoring streak to four games with an assist against the Atlanta Thrashers.

Earlier in the month Lecavalier was named the Second Star after tying for the league lead in points and goals for the week ending December 10. Lecavalier netted four goals, including a hattrick, and seven totals points in three games that week.

Through the month of December Lecavalier has recorded 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) through 11 games. With four multi-point games under his belt Lecavalier has been held without a point in only one game through December 26, a 3-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Prior to the game against Carolina, Lecavalier posted an eight-game point scoring streak that included a five-point night against Atlanta. Scoring his first hattrick of the season and adding two assists Lecavalier set a new career-high for points in a game during the 8-0 victory against the Thrashers.

Through 37 games Lecavalier leads the Lightning in points (48) and assists (27), and is second to Martin St. Louis with 21 goals this season. The center also leads the Lightning with 17 power play points (eight goals, nine assists). Lecavalier's 48 total points place him in a tie for fourth in league scoring with Washington's Alexander Ovechkin.

In addition to being named a Star of the Week twice in December, 2006 Lecavalier had previously been named Player of the Week once in his career for the week ending February 9, 2004. Lecavalier's nomination as the Third Star marks the third time this season that a Lightning player has been awarded "Three Stars" honors. Earlier this season St. Louis was named the First Star for the week ending November 26.
