Following the return of test results Sunday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Lightning received word that captain Vincent Lecavalier is day-to-day with a bone bruise on his left foot.
Lecavalier was hit by teammate Sami Salo's heavy slap shot from the blue line in the final seconds of Saturday night's 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. He got up and skated off the ice slowly under his own power following the incident, but had little to say in the locker room immediately following the game.
The Bolts captain, who has been lauded by head coach Guy Boucher for his leadership, has contributed in a major way to Tampa Bay's 6-2-0 start. He has recorded four goals, 11 points and a team-leading 24 hits in eight games this season.
Lecavalier did have X-Rays performed and will continue to be evaluated.
The Lightning embark on a four-game road trip starting Tuesday with a trip to Philadelphia to face the Flyers.
