Sun Sports’ producers and cameras spent an entire day at the St. Pete Times Forum, before sunrise to well past the end of the game, to learn what actually happens on game day. Before players and coaching staff arrive for their morning practice, Lightning Equipment Manager Ray Thill and his staff arrive to prepare everything for the day’s events. Forum Facility Event Manager Mike Power, whose responsibilities include all levels inside the arena as well as ice maintenance, also begins his duties shortly after dawn.
Zamboni drivers and conversion supervisors Tom Miracle and John Pravlik take viewers behind the scenes and onto the ice and Executive Chef Chris Packer details the enormous task of preparing and providing food for fans. Forum Sports & Event Coordinator Patti Kozicki makes sure the entire arena and each and every room is accounted for during a detailed outline and walkthrough, while Vice President of Event Production and Entertainment John Franzone, Director of Broadcast Production and Game Operations Jim Ciotoli and Entertainment Manager Hope Donnelly each have cameras shadow them throughout the day until the puck drops.
Sun Sports’ television producers Rob Allaer and Jeff Wesol show viewers the game within the game, and explain what goes on inside the television production truck prior to and during the event. Fans also get a peak inside the locker room, see what it’s like to sit down for a team lunch and listen in on Interm Head Coach Rick Tocchet’s press conference.
