Is a product of the University of Minnesota-Duluth and won an NCAA national championship last season as a member of the Bulldogs.
Was named the 2011 Frozen Four tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
Completed his final year at the University of Minnesota-Duluth this season and ranked first on the team with 24 goals and was third on the club with 47 points.
Tied for sixth in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) in points this season.
Was also named to the All-WCHA First Team this season.
Received the Hockey Commissioner’s Association National Rookie of the Month honors for October 2010.
Earned All-USHL (United States Hockey League) second team honors in 2009-10 prior to enrolling at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Was a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey award in 2008 during his senior year at Rosemont High School and also received Minneapolis Star-Tribune All-Metro and Associated Press All-State acclaim that year.
His father, Ted, starred for eight seasons as a running back with the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings from 1979-86 after being selected as a first-round draft pick in the 1979 NFL Draft.
