Tampa Bay Area Volkswagen dealers and the Tampa Bay Lightning are teaming up to bring the Lightning Concert Series presented by Volkswagen to the St. Pete Times Forum this season. The concert series will continue in February with performances by Edwin McCain and Tonic. The concert series performances will be held outdoors on the West Plaza stage immediately following the Lightning vs. Hurricanes game on Saturday, February 12 (McCain) and the Lightning vs. Panthers game on Saturday, February 19 (Tonic). Access to the Lightning Concert Series presented by Volkswagen is free with the purchase of a Lightning game ticket.
Edwin McCain’s warm and winsome songs have built an enduring and enviable career, filled with chart-topping hits and crowds in every town that keep him on the road 200 days each year. A rare artist whose songs are as popular today as the day they were released, McCain returns with “Walk with You” a powerful single that is poised to take its place alongside his romantic touchstones, “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More.”
Six Top 10 singles. Over four million records sold. Grammy nominations, platinum albums, numerous awards and hit songs around the world, plus the #1 most-played rock song of 1998. Tonic is a musical powerhouse, merging the raw honesty of rock to unabashed melody and ushering rock 'n' roll into a new millennium.
Many bands would be content with that sort of history – but, not Tonic. The band is back in the studio after a two-year break, working on a follow up to their last album, Grammy-nominated Head On Straight. "When we play music together it feels like going home," explains singer and guitarist Emerson Hart. "Getting together, playing some rock 'n' roll: it's the best feeling in the world."
The Lightning Concert Series began in 2006 and has been a huge hit, attracting fans to enjoy additional entertainment after watching exciting Lightning hockey. Other dates scheduled as part of the Lightning Concert Series presented by Volkswagen include March 5 and March 11 with performers to be announced later in the season.
