Bolts looking to build off Tuesday's win tonight in Boston

by Lightning Insider / Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning had an upbeat practice yesterday after Tuesday’s thrilling 3-2 overtime victory against division rival Carolina.  It is amazing what a win can do for the spirit of a team.  Hopefully they can parlay the momentum and good vibes into a “W” against the Bruins tonight at TD Garden.  It is an important game because Boston sits just eight points ahead of the Bolts in the Eastern Conference Standings.

The Lightning had an optional skate at the TD Garden this morning with a handful of guys taking their option including Vinny Lecavalier, Marty St. Louis, Steve Downie, and Andrej Meszaros to name a few.  Antero Niittymaki will get the start in net for the Lightning.  He has played well of late despite his record, allowing three goals or less in five of the previous six games and two or less in four of the last six.

Some good news on the injury front, Mattias Ohlund skated with the team this morning and may be ready to play Saturday in Buffalo.  Rick Tocchet said this morning that there may only be one lineup change from Tuesday’s game.  There will be a game time decision about a forward.  He wouldn't tip his hand on who it would be.

After tonight’s game the team will stay in Boston before flying to Buffalo tomorrow morning.  It is hard to believe this is the final road trip of more than one game this season.  It just makes you realize that the Bolts need some wins as the end of the season approaches.
