The following is the sixth installation of the ‘by the numbers’ series for the Lightning. Keep a lookout on the Lightning website for more data breakdowns as we continue to provide some fun, interactive data visualizations.

Coming down the stretch, fans always keep one eye on the standings. What better way to track the Lightning’s potential opponent than with a playoff predictor? The left table looks at the current standings left table looks at the current standings sorted by average points per game, with Games Played (GP), Regulation and Overtime Wins (ROW), and Points (P). Click on a team’s name/logo to pull up their magic number (amount of wins needed to clinch a spot) as well as their potential playoff matchup. Projected standings are calculated through taking the number of remaining games a team has and multiply it by the average points per game that a team has gained this season. The projected playoff matchups are based off these rankings.
