Lightning Draft News

The NHL Entry Draft will take place on June 25-26 in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on Versus, NHL Network and TSN. Prior to the draft, caught up with Brandon Gormley to ask him a few questions.

What are your thoughts on possibly being drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning?
I would be thrilled to be picked by the Tampa Bay Lightning. I think they are a team that is moving in the right direction with the hiring of hall-of-famer Steve Yzerman.

Are there any current NHL players that you have always wanted to play with or against? Any specific players from Tampa Bay?
My role model growing up was my Prince Edward Island neighbor Brad Richards, and he often speaks very highly of the Tampa Bay community and the great fans of the Lightning. It would be a dream come true to play alongside superstars Steven Stamkos, Vincent Lecavalier and Marty St Louis. Having the opportunity to develop with last year’s second overall pick Victor Hedman also would be an unbelievable experience.

You’ve played hockey in the junior leagues for some time now. Did you ever have the experience of crossing paths with new Lightning head coach Guy Boucher?
I know Guy Boucher from playing his team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and I know he is a thorough and well prepared coach with a bright future in the NHL.
