Vote for LA Kings in the LA Sports Awards

LOS ANGELES (January 11, 2011) -- Southern California sports fans can now cast their ballot for the 2010 LA Sports Awards, the annual televised awards show celebrating the greatest sports moments of the year in the Los Angeles/Orange County area.

Through balloting at, fans can vote in 14 different award categories. Voting takes place through January 31 and the winners will be revealed during the sixth annual LA Sports Awards on Thursday, February 24 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The awards gala will be televised on Fox Sports West (initial airing will be on Feb. 25) and will include special appearances by many of the athletes and coaches whose achievements helped make ’10 such a memorable year in sports.

The awards ceremony also will feature a countdown of the year’s Top 10 moments in ranked order as selected by a blue-ribbon media panel, along with the naming of the Sportsman, Sportswoman, Coach, and Sports Executive of the Year.

Kings Win Nine Straight
The Kings reeled off a franchise record nine consecutive victories, catapulting the team firmly into the playoff picture. The nine wins came against eight different teams over a stretch of three weeks (January 21 – February 6).

Kings Host First Playoff Game Since 2003
The Kings qualified for the NHL playoffs and hosted their first postseason game since 2003, defeating the Vancouver Canucks, 5-3 in front of a sold-out crowd at Staples Center (April 19).
Kings Host NHL Entry Draft
The Kings and Staples Center hosted the prestigious NHL Entry Draft for the first time in the 44-year history of the franchise. Southern California hockey fans packed the arena for the draft (June 25 – 26).
