We are saddened by the death of John Wooden, an icon for the city of Los Angeles and one of the greatest teachers in modern history.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Wooden Family and our friends at UCLA.
"John Wooden was the true personification of the term 'coach,'" Kings long-time broadcaster and NHL Hall of Famer Bob Miller said. "His brilliance was shown not only on the basketball court but even more so in the field of life.
"We could all benefit, young and old alike, by following his 'pyramid of success', and his adage 'Don't worry about being better than somebody else, but never cease trying to be the best you can be.'"
John Wooden: Oct. 14, 1910 – June 4, 2010.
