Six Questions with Teddy Purcell

by Melody Huskey / Los Angeles Kings caught up with Kings winger Teddy Purcell to ask six questions about what he does during the offseason.

Teddy Purcell was recalled to the Kings twice during the 2008-09 season.
Teddy Purcell ( Highlights), who re-signed with the Kings on July 20, 2009, recorded 16 points (4-12=16) and four penalty minutes in 40 regular season games with the Kings and 38 points (16-22=38) and 12 penalty minutes in 38 regular season games with the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, this past season. The 6-3, 202-pound native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, led the Monarchs in goals and ranked second on the Monarchs in points when he was recalled to the Kings on Feb. 23, 2009 (his second recall of the season). Purcell was named to the 2009 Canadian AHL All-Star Team on Jan. 6, 2009, and later that same month made his second consecutive appearance in the AHL’s annual All-Star Classic. What was the first thing you did after the season ended?
Purcell: During the year our schedule is so busy we don't get to enjoy the beach that much. So before coming back to Canada I took advantage of the weather and relaxed and hung out by the beach. Where are you living during the summer?
Purcell: I am living in my hometown of St. John's, Newfoundland. How do you keep in shape during the offseason?  Describe a typical workout.
Purcell: Usually we start with a warmup full of lunges and different types of cardio work, then we head into the weight room for weight training. What is your favorite summer activity?
Purcell: I would have to say sleeping in when I get the chance. What was your favorite moment of the 2008-09 season?
Purcell: Playing in Boston around St.Paddy's day. We were down late in the 3rd and came back to tie it, then Brownie scored in OT. That was a pretty good feeling in the locker room after the game. (Recap | Game Highlights ) What are you most looking forward to for next season?
Purcell: We have had a long summer, so I think everyone is excited to get going again and continue to develop as a team and not only to make the playoffs, but to do something in them.
