Six Questions with Justin Williams

by Melody Huskey / Los Angeles Kings
Forward Justin Williams played just 12 games in a Kings jersey in 2008-09 due to a broken hand.

LAKings.com caught up with Los Angeles Kings right wing Justin Williams to ask six questions about what he does during the offseason.

A member of the 2006 Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes, the Kings acquired Williams at the 2009 trade deadline through a three-way deal that saw Kings winger Patrick O'Sullivan go to the Edmonton Oilers and Eric Cole move to Carolina. Recovering from a broken hand at the time of the trade, Williams played his first game in a Kings jersey on March 20, 2009, finishing the season with four points (1-3=4) in 12 games. The 2009-10 season will be Williams' tenth in the NHL and his first full year with Los Angeles, his third team since being drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round (28th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

LAKings.com:
What was the first thing you did after the season ended?
Williams: I put my house up for sale in Raleigh...time to move across country!

LAKings.com: Where are you living during the summer?
Williams: The New Jersey shore.

LAKings.com: How do you keep in shape during the offseason?  Describe a typical workout.
Williams: Workouts usually for me are in the morning when I feel most motivated, but sometimes creep in later in the day depending on my schedule. My workouts usually run about 90 minutes, then cardio following that, whether it be a swim or a bike ride.

LAKings.com: What is your favorite summer activity?
Williams: Golfing no doubt. I'm addicted.

LAKings.com: What was your favorite moment of the 2008-09 season?
Williams: When it ended! It was a tough year for me personally, but scoring my first goal as a King and getting the first star were great also (Williams gets first star | Kings 2008-09 Schedule and Results).

LAKings.com: What are you most looking forward to for next season?
Williams: A healthy start, and seeing how much we improve this coming season, its gonna be great to watch as a player and as a fan.
