ROYALS SHUT OUT IN JOHNSTOWN

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings
Johnstown , PA – The Reading Royals (36-17-7=79) failed to solve Johnstown goaltender, Morgan Cey, who stopped all 50 shots he faced as the Chiefs defeated the Royals, 1-0. Johnstown got all they would need on a first period power play goal by Randy Rowe, as Reading lost for the seventh time in eight Sunday starts this season.

The only goal of the game came at the 5:26 mark of the first period on Johnstown 's first power play chance of the afternoon. Despite playing a man short, a Royals' defender rushed deep into the offensive zone and got caught up ice as Johnstown 's Adam Henrich took possession and quickly led the transition into an odd man rush with Randy Rowe.

Henrich fed Rowe on the left wing side, and Rowe carried deep into the offensive end before unloading a bullet from a sharp angle that beat Royals' goaltender Cody Rudkowsky (20-7-3, 25/26) high to the glove side.

The Royals pounded the pressure through much of the game, as the lopsided shots total–which was 40-14 over the last two periods–would indicate, but Reading was unable finish on the team's best chances, and Cey made all the stops he had to make and got a little help from his teammates and goalposts (and cross-bar) when he needed it to pick up his third shutout of the season.
