Reign Shuts Out Condors, 3-0

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings
ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, shutout the Bakersfield Condors, 3-0, on Saturday evening at Citizens Business Bank Arena. The “Go Green on Halloween Night” match saw a crowd of 4,937 fans. The players donned special edition green jerseys for the game, which were auctioned off after the match. The auction raised $27,000 for the Frontier Project.

Ontario put the first goal of the night over the goal line during a power play at 7:58 in the first period. Defenseman David Walker launched a slap shot towards the net that was redirected past Bakersfield netminder Timo Pielmeier by forward Adam Henrich. Forward Greg Hogeboom also registered an assist on the play and the Reign took a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the Reign extended their lead to two goals at 3:24 in the third period. Forward Dwight King redirected defenseman Chad Starling’s shot from just inside the blue line and Greg Hogeboom picked up his second assist of the night.

Bakersfield pulled Pielmeier for the extra attacker, but their attempt backfired when Jon Rheault threw the puck into the empty net with one second left in regulation. Ontario claimed their first home win of the season with a final score of Reign 3, Condors 0.
