ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, have claimed goaltender Shane Connelly off waivers from the Utah Grizzlies.
Connelly, 24, has worn the sweaters of four ECHL clubs (South Carolina, Elmira, Trenton, and, most recently, Utah) prior to joining the Reign. The goaltender from Cheltenham, Pennsylvania has recorded a 3.31 goals-against average, .888 save percentage, and 9-16-2-2 record in 34 games this season. In his rookie year, he split 40 games between South Carolina and the Johnstown Chiefs, ending the season with a 3.22 goals-against average, .891 save percentage, and record of 16-14-5-2. Prior to turning pro in 2009, Connelly spent four seasons at the University of Wisconsin (WCHA).
