Playoff Roundup - May 14

by Alex Kinkopf / Los Angeles Kings

Throughout the NHL playoffs, LAKings.com will provide updates to each match up, documenting the most popular highlights, snippets from social media, and other happenings every Monday and Thursday of each week.

EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

THE SERIES: RANGERS WIN 4-3

Washington had a 3-1 series lead.

The Rangers were less than two minutes from being eliminated in Game 5.

Now look where we are!

Ovechkin guaranteed a Game 7 victory, but to no avail. The Capitals' superstar forward was the only player to score for Washington in the series-deciding game. It was one too few, the Rangers winning the game in overtime.

BEDLAM!

Martin St. Louis and the New York Rangers will move on to face Ryan Callahan and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Interesting.

THE SERIES: LIGHTNING WIN 4-2

The Lightning, who dominated the Canadiens all year long, eliminated Montreal in Game 6 to advance to the Eastern Conference Final.

WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

THE SERIES: BLACKHAWKS WIN 4-0

The Chicago Blackhawks had no troubles handling the Minnesota Wild, eliminating them in a four-game sweep. Patrick Kane led the Blackhawks to their third straight trip to the Western Conference Final, racking up six points (5G, 1A) in the series.

The entire Minnesota Wild team combined for just two more goals all series than Patrick Kane himself.

The series win didn't come without any losses, though. Michal Rozsival's ankle took a nasty turn in Game 4, resulting in a fracture. The Balckhawks' veteran defenseman is out indefinitely.

THE SERIES: DUCKS WIN 4-1

Unfortunately Scorch wasn't available as a minor-league call up...

A Southern California team will take on the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference Final again this season, albeit not the Kings.
