LOS ANGELES – Seventeen NHL Trophies – including the Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP), Calder Memorial Trophy (Rookie of the Year) and the James Norris Memorial Trophy (Best Defenseman) – will be at LA Kings Hockey Fest ’09, the Kings announced today. The trophies, which will be on loan from the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, will be on display throughout the new three-day interactive festival celebrating the Kings and the game of hockey from August 28-30 at LA Live in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. The following is the complete list of NHL trophies that will be at LA Kings Hockey Fest ’09: Presidents’ Trophy, Prince of Wales Trophy, Clarence Campbell Bowl, Hart Memorial Trophy, Calder Memorial Trophy, Art Ross Trophy, James Norris Memorial Trophy, Vezina Trophy, Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, Frank J. Selke Trophy, William M. Jennings Trophy, Conn Smythe Trophy, Jack Adams Award, Bill Masterton Trophy, King Clancy Memorial Trophy, Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy and Lester B. Pearson Award.
“We are thrilled to have these prestigious trophies at our first Hockey Fest and it will be great for fans to get their photos taken with them next month,” said Kings President, Business Operations Luc Robitaille, who in 1987 won the Calder Memorial Trophy. “This event continues to get better and better and we are excited to have the NHL and the Hockey Hall of Fame supporting Hockey Fest ‘09.”
Today’s announcement is the latest in a series of programming announcements regarding the event. LA Kings Hockey Fest ’09 will also feature the re-unification of the famed “Triple Crown Line” of Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne, Dave Taylor and Charlie Simmer; an NHL Experts Panel featuring Kelly Hrudey, Ray Ferraro and Jim Fox; and ESPN anchor/ESPN.com columnist John Buccigross will serve as the official host.
The Kings expect to announce soon more Speakers Series, including an Enforcer’s Series, plus a live music act to help kick-off the event on Friday, August 28, a street hockey tournament and more.
Tickets for LA Kings Hockey Fest ’09 – the largest event hosted by the Kings since the 2002 NHL All-Star Game -- are currently on-sale and cost $60 (the ticket serves as a pass for all three days). Each ticket allows admittance into all LA Kings Hockey Fest ’09 events for the weekend. Tickets for kids five years of age and under are free. Discounted tickets for groups are also available.
