Two former Monarchs players went to work in the first period to give the Bears a 3-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes. Center Dave Steckel picked up his fifth tally of the playoffs when he tipped the puck past Monarchs goaltender Jason LaBarbera at 2:20 of the opening period. Defenseman Tim Wedderburn's shot from the point deflected off of left wing Quintin Laing and to the right of LaBarbera. Steckel tipped it out of mid-air and into the net for the 1-0 lead.

Right wing Scott Barney doubled the Bears lead at 7:31 of the first period with a power play goal. Left wing Tomas Fleischmann received a pass from left wing Chris Bourque and carried the puck around the back of the net. On the left doorstep, Fleischmann took a shot that LaBarbera saved. The puck popped free and Barney fired the rebound under LaBarbera's glove for his seventh goal of the season.

Steckel collected his second of the period, shorthanded at 9:12 of the opener. Defenseman Tyler Sloan fired the puck down the ice from his zone and forced LaBarbera to make the save. With two Monarchs players back to get the puck and Steckel putting on pressure, the puck became entangled in bodies and slipped past the goaltender and into the net for a 3-0 Bears advantage.

The Monarchs refused to go into the locker room scoreless as left wing Matt Moulson recorded his second goal of the playoffs on a delayed penalty. Center Gabe Gauthier nudged the puck to right wing John Zeiler through Hershey bodies. Zeiler fed the puck up to Moulson who skated in on net, deked to his left to bring the goalie to the ice and then flipped the puck over the fallen netminder Frederic Cassivi.

The Bears scored the lone second period tally off the stick of defenseman Mike Green at 10:45. On the power play, Hershey set up in the Monarchs zone with traffic in front of the net. Green ripped a slap shot from the left point that skipped through bodies and into the net for his fourth goal of the playoffs. Fleischmann and Barney assisted on the power play goal.

Left wing Jeff Giuliano brought the Monarchs to within two with his second goal of the playoffs at 2:47 of the final period. Center Patrick O'Sullivan passed the puck to center Matt Ryan in the slot. Ryan controlled the puck and sent a backhander to Giuliano for the tip past Cassivi to bring the score to 4-2 Bears.

Hershey answered back with right wing Chad Wiseman's first goal of the playoffs at 3:26 of the third period. Green passed the puck up to Wiseman who skated into the Monarchs zone and wristed a shot from the right face-off circle five-hole of LaBarbera.

Center Kyle Wilson scored his fourth tally of the playoffs and the Bears sixth goal of the evening at 10:43 of the final stanza. On the power play for the sixth time this evening, Bourque fired a shot from the right point. LaBarbera made the save and right wing Alexandre Giroux picked up the rebound and put another shot on net. LaBarbera made the save but the rebound came to Wilson on the right doorstep who slipped the puck between the goaltender's skates and the post to bring the score the 6-2.

LaBarbera was replaced by goaltender Barry Brust following Wilson's goal.

Wilson collected his second of the night at 14:21 of the third period when he skated down center ice and threw a shot past Brust. Sloan and Fleischmann assisted on the goal.

LaBarbera took the loss stopping 27 shots. Brust made 3 saves. Cassivi earned the victory with 26 saves on 28 shots.

Manchester went 0-for-6 on the power play. Hershey was 3-for-6 with the man advantage.
