MANCHESTER, NH – Right wing Grant Marshall tallied the game winning goal to lead the Lowell Devils over the Manchester Monarchs 2-1 in front of 5,359 fans at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night.

Manchester (2-3-1-1) is in seventh place in the Atlantic Division with six points. Lowell (4-3-0-0) is tied for fourth place in the Atlantic Division with eight points.

Marshall rifled the go-ahead goal past Monarchs goaltender Dan Cloutier at the 6:25 mark of the final stanza. The seasoned veteran picked up a pass from center Petr Vrana and positioned himself at the top of the right face-off circle. Marshall took the wind up and blasted a slap shot over the glove of Cloutier for his second goal of the season and the game-winner. Left wing Mike Pandolfo earned an assist on the goal.

The Devils lit the lamp first in the contest when center Ivan Khomutov scored his third tally of the season when he caught Cloutier behind the net at 11:55 of the opening period. Right wing Benoit Mondou stole the puck away from Cloutier and found Khomutov wide open in the crease. Khomutov flipped the puck into the open net to give Lowell a 1-0 lead.

Manchester evened the score at 5:55 of the middle frame with center Brady Murray's first goal of the season and the first tally of his American Hockey League career. Center Trevor Lewis fed the puck up to right wing Vladimir Dravecky who skated up the ice along the right wing boards. Dravecky found Murray skating toward the net on the left side. Accepting a pass that slipped through a couple Devils defenders, Murray fired a snap shot into the top of the net as goaltender Frank Doyle was not able to shift from his left to his right fast enough.

Cloutier took the loss stopping 16 shots. Doyle earned the win with 37 saves.

Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Lowell was 0-for-0 with the man advantage.
