LAK vs SJS: Postgame Quotes

by Jon Rosen / Los Angeles Kings

Quotes from

Darryl Sutter -

On a “tense, dramatic” game:
Not really. I thought we had a good first period, did what we wanted. I thought we deserved to win the second period and they scored the two goals. We were down, and did a good job in the third to tie it up.

On not falling behind by two goals since the Islanders game:
It doesn’t matter what we’re down. I think we’re always in the mindset that we have a chance to win.

On finding some success limiting Joe Thornton and Brent Burns:
Not easy. Big guys that hang on to the puck. That’s pretty much a Mike-Joe match-up tonight. We’re used to that. Mike-Joe.

On Ben Scrivens taking responsibility for the shootout loss:
Goaltender loses, then they take responsibility.

Ben Scrivens -

On the shootout:
Fun. Obviously came out on the wrong end of it. I have to try to find a way to make some more saves there in the shootout there, but they have some skilled guys. It’s a learning experience.

On getting three of a possible four points on the road trip:
We like four. That’s our goal. Obviously we’ll take every point we can get but we aren’t satisfied by any means with three. We have a team that expects to win and we have a team that can win. So we have to find a way. Again, that starts with me making a few more [saves] in the shootout there.

On Joe Thornton’s shootout goal:
Low glove. He’s a good player. Good reach. I thought I was there but [it was] a fortuitous bounce on his part.

On the game:
It was a fun game. It’s my first time in San Jose. It’s a loud rink, good fan support. That’s great for the league, we love to see that.

On defending against Thornton and Burns:
I saw the shots. I don’t answer X’s and O’s questions really. That’s coach’s job and the guys who are actually executing. I know that they blocked shots, the guys in front of me, they did a great job tonight. But I will leave the analysis up to you guys.
