Kopitar ranked 7th among Centermen in NHL 16

by Alex Kinkopf / Los Angeles Kings

In anticipation of the release of EA Sports’ 25th installment of their NHL series, ‘NHL 16’, they’ve published their list of the Top 10 ranked centermen to be featured in the game when it hits shelves in North American stores on September 15.

Anze Kopitar is #7 on EA’s list with a player rating of 92, sharing that mark with Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg, Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin, and New York’s John Tavares. Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby is #1 on the charts, chiming in with a player rating of 96 – the highest of any player in the game.

“Kopitar turns 28 in August, and with a full summer of rest and with the prime years of his career before him, he should stand to better his offensive numbers in 2015-16 – especially those 10 even strength goals – while maintaining an elite defensive awareness that has made him one of the league’s premier checkers and defenders amongst top forwards,” Jon Rosen said in his 2014-’15 evaluation of the Kings’ star forward.

In 2014-’15, Kopitar registered 64 points in the form of 16 goals and 48 assists. His point total was the second lowest of his NHL career, disregarding the shortened 2012-’13 campaign. Kopitar appeared in 79 games last season.

The full rankings list looks as follows:

10: Tyler Seguin – DAL (91)
9: Ryan Getzlaf – ANA (91)
8: Henrik Zetterberg – DET (92)
Anze Kopitar – LAK (92)
6: Evgeni Malkin – PIT (92)
5: John Tavares – NYI (92)
4: Pavel Datsyuk – DET (93)
3: Steven Stamkos – TBL (93)
2: Jonathan Toews – CHI (94)
1: Sidney Crosby – PIT (96)
