KINGS TO DRAFT FIFTH; 13 PICKS OVERALL

LOS ANGELES -The Los Angeles Kings are scheduled to make up to 13 selections – including the fifth overall selection in the first round – during the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, scheduled for June 25-26 at Bell Centre in Montreal. The first round of the draft will take place on Friday, June 25, with VERSUS providing live coverage of the event starting at 4 p.m. (PT). Rounds two through seven of the draft are scheduled for Saturday, June 26, starting at 7 a.m. (PT) with the NHL Network and NHL.com providing round-by-round coverage.

The following lists the Kings round-by-round selections in this year’s draft:

· The Kings received the 74th overall selection from Buffalo last year as the result of a trade of draft selections; the Kings received the 117th overall selection from San Jose last year as the result of a trade of draft selections; the Kings received the 120th overall selection from Detroit on Feb. 26, 2008, as the result of the Kings trading Brad Stuart to the Red Wings; the Kings received the 138th overall selection from St. Louis on June 4, 2008, as the result of the Kings trading T.J. Fast to the Blues; the Kings received the 179th overall selection from Chicago last year as the result of a trade of draft selections; the Kings received the 198th overall selection from St. Louis as the result of a trade of draft selections; and the Kings received the 203rd overall selection from Vancouver on Dec. 30, 2008, as the result of the Kings trading Jason LaBarbera to the Canucks.

· Buffalo, by way of Vancouver, received the 66th overall selection, which was originally a Kings selection, as the result of the Kings on July 5, 2006, trading for Dan Cloutier.
