LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings will play 11 of their first 14 regular season games at STAPLES Center as the Kings and the NHL Thursday announced the club’s complete 2008-09 regular season schedule. The Kings open the season on Saturday, Oct. 11, at San Jose while the club’s home opener at STAPLES Center, as announced Wednesday, will take place on Sunday, Oct. 12, against San Jose.

Following the Kings-Sharks season opener in San Jose on Oct. 11, the Kings will open a four game homestand against San Jose (Oct. 12), Anaheim (Oct. 14), Carolina (Oct. 17) and Colorado (Oct. 20). The Kings then travel for two games -- to St. Louis on Oct. 24 and Nashville on Oct. 25 -- before hosting a season-high seven game homestand at STAPLES Center from Oct. 27–Nov. 11, which begins with the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 27.

The 2008-09 schedule features the following Eastern Conference teams visiting STAPLES Center: Carolina (Oct. 17), Florida (Nov. 6), Washington (Nov. 20), Toronto (Dec. 1), the New York Rangers (Dec. 17), Philadelphia (January 3), New Jersey (January 10), Tampa Bay (Jan. 12), and Atlanta (Feb. 16). The Kings travel to Buffalo (Dec. 19), Montreal (Jan. 31), Ottawa (Feb. 3), Washington (Feb. 5), New Jersey (Feb. 7), the New York Islanders (Feb. 10), Philadelphia (Feb. 25), Boston (March 19) and Pittsburgh (March 20).

The 82-game schedule has the Kings playing 41 games at STAPLES Center and the rest on the road. The Kings play six games against divisional opponents and four games against teams in the Central and Northwest Divisions of the Western Conference. The Kings host the cross-town Ducks on October 14, November 4 and Jan. 8, while Los Angeles’ Northern California foes, the San Jose Sharks, make visits to STAPLES Center on Oct. 12, Dec. 15 and April 11 (season finale).
