LA Kings defenseman/assistant captain Drew Doughty has been selected to represent the Pacific Division in the 2019 NHL All-Star Game in San Jose, the National Hockey League announced today.

This marks the fifth consecutive NHL All-Star Game selection for Doughty.

Thirty-seven All-Star players were selected by the NHL's Hockey Operations Department, joining three of the four division captains elected by fans via the 2019 NHL All-Star Fan Vote presented by adidas: Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews (Atlantic), Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon (Central) and Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid (Pacific). Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin, who was voted captain of the Metropolitan Division, announced today that he will not attend the 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend.

Doughty also represented the Kings at the 2018 All-Star Game in Tampa Bay; the 2017 All-Star Game at STAPLES Center; the 2016 All-Star Game in Nashville; and the 2015 All-Star Game in Columbus. He also participated in the 2009 NHL YoungStars Game in Montreal during All-Star Weekend.

Doughty has played in all 41 games for the Kings this season and has 22 points (3-19=22). He leads the Kings in assists and is tied for second in club scoring. He also leads the team in TOI (26:41), which is the most among all NHL skaters (Doughty also led the NHL in this category in 2017-18).

Last month, Doughty played in his 800th regular season game and he became the franchise leader in points among defensemen all-time.

On Tuesday night in Las Vegas, he played in his 369th consecutive regular season game, also a franchise record.

The Kings begin a two-game homestand on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at STAPLES Center. All fans in attendance will receive a Bob Miller Mini-Statue presented by Mercury Insurance.

The 2019 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend marks the second time NHL All-Star activities will take place in San Jose. The Sharks previously hosted the event in 1997.

The Sharks and city of San Jose will host the 2019 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend, from Jan. 25-26, including the 2019 SAP NHL All-Star Skills™ on Friday, Jan. 25 (6 p.m. PT, NBCSN) and the 2019 Honda NHL® All-Star Game on Saturday, Jan. 26 (5 p.m. PT, NBC).

The All-Star Game will feature a three-game tournament, played in a 3-on-3 format, showcasing teams from each NHL division competing for a $1 million winner-take-all prize pool.
