LOWELL, MA – Goaltender Barry Brust stopped 41 shots as the Manchester Monarchs blanked the Lowell Devils 4-0 in front of 3,953 fans at the Tsongas Arena on Saturday night.

Manchester (41-19-6-1) is leading the Atlantic Division with 89 points. Lowell (34-25-5-6) is tied for fourth place in the Atlantic Division with 79 points.

The Monarchs jumped on the scoreboard early with right wing Tim Jackman's 14th tally of the season coming just 28 seconds after the first puck drop. Defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky blasted a shot from the point and Jackman was standing on the left doorstep to chip the rebound past Devils netminder Jordan Parise. Defenseman Doug Nolan also earned an assist on the first goal of the game.

Left wing Matt Moulson made the score 2-0 at 3:58 of the first period when he scored his 19th goal of the season. Defenseman Peter Harrold picked up the puck from center Gabe Gauthier and skated into the Devils zone. Harrold fired a slap shot from just outside the left face-off circle that tipped off of Moulson's stick, slid between Parise's pads and into the back of the net.

Center Marty Murray scored his 11th goal of the season at 3:09 of the second period to put a three goal difference between the Monarchs and the Devils. Defenseman Eric Werner sent a shot on net from the right point that Murray, as he fell to the ice, tipped past Parise. Forward Kevin Westgarth collected his first professional point with an assist.

Moulson scored his second tally of the night and 20th of the season at 9:06 of the final frame. Parise made the initial save on a shot from Jackman but Moulson pounced on the rebound to make the score 4-0. Gauthier earned his second assist of the night on the goal.

Brust earned his second shutout of the season with 41 saves. Parise took the loss stopping 30-of-34 shots.

Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Lowell was 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
