by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings recently launched a contest in search of the Kings biggest fan to serve as the “Draft Runner” for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft in Columbus. The contest asked for an essay in 100 words or less “Why You Are the Kings’ Biggest Fan.” Of the hundreds of eligible entries that received, the winner that we selected was 13 year-old Kings fan Ethan F., from Simi Valley, who composed the entry below:

“I am the biggest Kings fan for one main reason, I was practically born at a Kings game! My mother went into labor at the playoff game between the Kings and the Maple Leafs in 1993. She wouldn't leave and was brought blankets and pillows. It is true I wasn't born until a few days later, but that was only the beginning, I have gone to almost every game since. I started skating at 2 years old, played travel hockey and now I am off to Northwood School to follow my hockey dream. I hope that one day I will be more than a guest at the NHL Draft, but a top prospect in the draft and play for my favorite all-time team the LA Kings. I am your biggest, in heart, fan. Since I won't be attending the games like I used to, because school comes first, this would be something very special to me.”

The Draft Runner will sit at the Kings Draft table and work that evening for the Kings hockey operations department. He will also serve as a “contributor” to during the Draft which is June 22-23 at Nationwide Arena, so stay tuned to for an update on the travels of young Ethan F.
