Teaming up to promote away-from-home recycling

by Staff Writer / Winnipeg Jets

Jets fans can expect to see signage throughout MTS Centre this season encouraging patrons to “Recycle Everywhere” and custom made recycling bins will be placed throughout the arena to make it easy to recycle beverage containers at all MTS events.

“CBCRA is thrilled to partner with the new Winnipeg Jets and be part of the energy and passion that is sweeping Winnipeg and Manitoba”, said John Challinor II , Chairman, CBCRA. “We believe Jets fans will respond to the Recycle Everywhere message with the same enthusiasm they bring to every game.”

“Over 600,000 patrons will enter the MTS Centre doors during our inaugural season to cheer on our Winnipeg Jets,” said Jim Ludlow, President & CEO of True North Sports & Entertainment Limited. “With the amount of bottled and canned beverages sold in our concessions on a game-by-game basis, we are thrilled to partner with ‘Recycle Everywhere’ to reaffirm our commitment to the environment.”

CBCRA’s primary goal is to achieve a 75% recovery of all beverage containers sold in Manitoba. The Recycle Everywhere Program provides bins free of charge to schools, municipalities and businesses to allow consumers to recycle beverage containers while away-from-home.

“Partnership with organizations and businesses is essential for the success of the Recycle Everywhere Program”, added Brad Ryder, CBCRA Board Director. “Research shows that consumers will recycle if bins are readily available and with dedicated partners like the Winnipeg Jets and MTS Centre we are closer to our objective of making away-from-home recycling of beverage containers common place throughout Manitoba.”

CBCRA is a not-for-profit organization supported by beverage companies who share a strong commitment to the environment and recycling. These companies, including soft drink, energy drink, water and juice producers, are helping the province boost beverage container recycling rates. To learn more about CBCRA visit:
