Scheifele named NHL’s Second Star of the Week

The Winnipeg Jets hockey club, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, today announced that centre Mark Scheifele has been named the NHL ‘Second Star’ of the Week ending Mar. 6, 2015.

Scheifele, 22, had seven points (6G, 1A) in four games this past week including his first career NHL hat-trick on Sat., Mar. 5 against Montréal. Scheifele had one assist against Florida on Mar. 1 followed by back-to-back multi-goal games as the Kitchener, Ont. native scored twice against the New York Islanders on Mar. 3, then tallied the hat-trick against Montréal. He rounded out the week with the Jets’ lone goal against Edmonton on Mar. 6.

On the season, Scheifele has 41 points (21G, 20A) in 54 games. Scheifele surpassed his career-best in goals in a season on Mar. 3 against the Islanders. He has three game-winning goals, also a career-high. Scheifele is currently on a four-game point streak, The Jets face Nashville on Tue. Mar. 8 to complete a five-game homestand.
