The Winnipeg Jets today announced they have re-assigned Patrice Cormier and Zach Redmond to the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League.
The Jets also announced they have placed defenceman Grant Clitsome on the injured reserve retroactive to Thursday, September 26, 2013.
Cormier, 23, appeared in 10 games with the Winnipeg Jets last season for seven penalty minutes. He played the majority of the 2012-13 season with the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League where he suited up for 35 games and earned 11 points (7G, 4A) and 69 penalty minutes. The Moncton, NB native has played in 40 career NHL games between Atlanta and Winnipeg for two career points (1G, 1A) and seven career penalty minutes. He was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the second round, 54th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft
Redmond, 24, made his NHL debut in 2012-13 when he appeared in eight games with the Winnipeg Jets. During that time, Redmond recorded four points (1G, 3A) and 12 penalty minutes before suffering a significant leg injury which ended his NHL season. He returned to play a pair of games with the IceCaps of the American Hockey League to end the season. Redmond has played in 113 career AHL games between Chicago and St. John’s for 50 career points (16G, 34A) and 71 career penalty minutes. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the seventh round, 184th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.
