Jets Journal: West to East

by Kristi Hennessy / Winnipeg Jets
Split-squad teams part ways for the weekend

  • The Jets have trimmed their roster by just eight players leaving 23 players in one group and 30 in the other.

Group B took to the ice at the MTS Centre Friday morning for practice before heading to the airport to fly out to Nashville. That Jets' squad will face-off against the Nashville Predators Saturday night at 7:00 pm.

Following the Nashville game, the group will head to Conception Bay South, NL, the winners of the Kraft Hockeyville game. Winning the coveted Hockeyville title means that the winning town will host an NHL pre-season game in their community arena, and are awarded $100,000 from Kraft to use for arena updates in their local arenas.

The Winnipeg Jets group will take on the Ottawa Senators in Newfoundland Monday at 3:00 pm CST.
The game will be broadcast by CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.

Players such as captain Andrew Ladd, Evander Kane, Mark Scheifele and Ondrej Pavelec are all included in the Nashville and St. John's group.

The other group of players practiced later today as they prepare for their trip to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday at 4:00 pm CST. That game can be viewed on TSN-Jets.

Dustin Byfuglien, Nik Antropov, Zach Bogosian, Alexander Burmistrov and goalie David Aebischer are part of the group that is headed to Charlotte.

Jets next pre-season home game is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28th at 7:30 pm against the Carolina Hurricanes. The game will be broadcast on TSN and TSN-Jets
