Jets Acquire Jiri Tlusty From Carolina Hurricanes

The Winnipeg Jets announced they have acquired forward Jiri Tlusty from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a third round draft choice in the 2016 NHL Draft and a conditional sixth round draft choice in the 2015 NHL Draft. The Winnipeg Jets also announced they have placed forward Blake Wheeler on IR.

Tlusty, 26, has played in 396 career games with the Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs, who originally drafted the forward 13th overall in the 2006 NHL Draft. A product of Slany, Czech Republic, Tlusty has collected 165 career points (86G, 79A) and 116 penalty minutes over eight NHL seasons. This season, Tlusty is third on the Carolina Hurricanes with 13 goals to go along with 10 assists in 52 games played in 2014-15. Tlusty recorded his career-high in goals in 2012-13, when he scored 23 goals for the Hurricanes which was tied for the fifth-most in the NHL that season.
