The Week in Review, the Week Ahead

Wednesday, February 15th vs. Hershey, 7-4 W - The Sound Tigers set a franchise record with five power-play goals en route to their second straight win over Hershey.  WYATT SMITH (two goals) and JOEL BOUCHARD (one goal & two assists) led the attack in their first game back from the Islanders as the Sound Tigers scored seven goals for the second time in less than a week.  The Sound Tigers also notched their third four-goal period in a four-game span with a second-period explosion en route to the 7-4 triumph.  ROB COLLINS, MATT KOALSKA, ROBERT NILSSON and STEVE REGIER also had a goal and an assist each while JEFF HAMILTON tied a single-game Sound Tigers record with three helpers.  WADE DUBIELEWICZ made 24 saves to up his personal unbeaten-in-regulation streak to 7-0-0-1.

Friday, February 17th at Springfield, 5-2 L - The Sound Tigers held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 on goals by SEAN BERGENHEIM and JEREMY COLLITON, but Springfield scored three times in a 2:51 span on both sides of the second intermission in rallying for the 5-2 win.  JASON JASPERS (three assists) and TIMO HELBLING (one goal & one assist) led the way for the Falcons.

Saturday, February 18th vs. Portland, 5-2 L - After going 24 games without back-to-back losses in regulation (17-4-1-2), the Sound Tigers saw their impressive streak end exactly two months to the day after the second of their last such defeats.  DUSTIN PENNER and PIERRE PARENTAU each scored twice as Portland solidified its hold on first place in the Atlantic Division with the 5-2 victory.  BRUNO GERVAIS and SEAN BERGENHEIM tallied on the power play for the Sound Tigers.  The goal upped Bergenheim's scoring to six games (6+4).

Sunday, February 19th vs. Norfolk, 6-3 W - The Sound Tigers returned to the ice just 15 hours after Saturday's tilt with Portland for a matinee showdown with the Norfolk Admirals.  Despite the fact that Norfolk was off and scouting the game Saturday, the Sound Tigers jumped two points ahead of the Admirals and into sole possession of third place in the East Division with a 6-3 win.  JOEL BOUCHARD upped his assist and point streak to three games with a pair of helpers; COLE JARRETT, ALLAN ROURKE and DAVID MASSE also had two assists apiece; WYATT SMITH scored once and added two helpers; STEVE REGIER notched a pair of third-period goals; WADE DUBIELEWICZ stopped 42 of 45 shots and CHRIS THOMPSON made his first career AHL goal a big one by notching the game-winner.

Wednesday, February 22nd vs. Hartford, 7:35 p.m.
- Having scratched Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Hershey and now Norfolk off the list of teams who have their number, the Sound Tigers will try for their first win of the season versus Hartford.  The Wolf Pack have won all six meetings so far, although the Sound Tigers did earn points in the last two games by stretching things to a shootout before falling each time.

Friday, February 24th at Lowell, 7:35 p.m. - A win this Friday in Lowell would give the Sound Tigers an impressive sweep of the eight-game season series with the Lock Monsters.  The game also holds postseason implications as the fifth place team in the Atlantic Division-- currently Lowell --can grab the fourth playoff spot in the East Division bracket should that fifth-place Atlantic squad have more points than the fourth-seeded team in the East.

Sunday, February 26th vs. Binghamton, 4:05 p.m. - After seeing division-rival Binghamton only three times in the first four months of the season, this will be the first of three meetings with the Senators in a five-week span.
