The Bethpage State Park Golf Course will host the sixth annual Islanders Children’s Foundation (ICF) Golf Outing on Monday, Sept. 9, where Islanders players, coaches and alumni will tee off with fans for a terrific cause. The ICF Golf Outing is the biggest event of the offseason, raising thousands of dollars since its inception. This event allows fans and sponsors to connect with the Islanders organization during a relaxing round of golf before the players lace up their skates for the 2013-14 regular season.
Each group will register a foursome, and a player, coach or Islanders alum will join as the fifth player, to participate in an 18-hole shamble-style tournament. The event will take place on the Red Course in Farmingdale, home of the 2002 and 2009 PGA U.S. Open, with a 10:30 a.m. registration and shotgun start at noon.
Participants will have a full day planned with gourmet-style meals and an exclusive reception following the 18 holes, where prizes after the day’s rounds will be awarded and unique Islanders experience and memorabilia will be auctioned off. All of the proceeds from the day’s events will go to the ICF.
“The Islanders Children’s Foundation is something the organization takes immense pride in all year long,” said Ann Rina, Islanders Community Relations Manager. “We set out each year with the hopes of raising money and giving back to the community which supports us year after year. This is a great event that allows fans and the Islanders team to come together in support of a terrific cause.”
ICF is a non-profit organization committed to supporting Long Island-based charitable groups that focus on health, education and youth hockey development. Each season, Islanders players, employees and management, as well as sponsors and fans work tirelessly to raise awareness and funds through charitable initiatives, and have raised more than $7 million since the foundation’s inception in 2003.
Some of the event's sponsors include: Met-Rx and NBTY Helping Hands, Jeffrey and Ileen Doppelt, US Trust/Bank of America, Capital One, Corporate Identity Plus, Blackberry, MSG, Package All Corp., Silver Fin Financial Group and the NHL Foundation.
