Joel Rechlicz signs autographs for kids.
Joel Rechlicz is back in town and this week he is spending time in the community with the Islanders I.C.E. Tour.  Today, he made his first stop at the Great South Bay YMCA in Bay Shore. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Rechlicz had a blast with the kids, signing autographs and taking pictures with more than 300 campers. Sparky the Dragon, the team’s official mascot was also in attendance posing for pictures with many of the campers.  The Islanders I.C.E. Tough had their interactive inflatables and their prize wheel available for the kids to race through and win prizes. When Rechlicz was finished signing autographs, he headed over to the street hockey rink that the I.C.E. Tour set up for a game against Sparky and half of the campers.

“It is always a pleasure to come back to the Island and spend time with the fans who cheer us on all season long,” Rechlicz said. “Today was great. The kids were awesome and I had a really great time playing hockey and getting to know them. Its important for us to get out to places like this and meet some of our fans because that’s where the relationships form.  It makes it even more special when you see those same kids banging on the glass during a game.”
