Practice Updates 11/10/14

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders

Boychuk: Johnny Boychuk (day-to-day, lower body) did not practice with the team Monday at Islanders Iceworks. Head Coach Jack Capuano said he thought Boychuk was nearly ready to play Saturday night in Phoenix and that he will be re-evaluated Tuesday to see if he can play against the Colorado Avalanche.

Bailey: Josh Bailey participated in his first team practice without a non-contact jersey on Monday. Capuano said Bailey was getting close to returning to action, but it highly unlikely to play Tuesday.

Bailey: We did an X-Ray on the trip and everything is where it’s supposed to be. I’m not overly concerned for it. It was more based on how I feel holding the stick and handling the puck. It’s going well and everything feels good.

I have no hesitation. If you’re ever in those situations and feel that pull back, you’re probably not ready. I haven’t felt like that at all.

Boulton: Eric Boulton “tweaked something lower body” today and left practice.

Lines at Practice:

Nikolay Kulemin John Tavares Kyle Okposo
Mikhail Grabovski Josh Bailey/Frans Nielsen Cal Clutterbuck
Anders Lee Ryan Strome Brock Nelson
Matt Martin Casey Cizikas Cory Conacher

Grabner:
Michael Grabner continued his recovery on Monday, skating with Islanders coaches after practice. There are no further updates on his timetable.

From the Coach: These are top teams we’re playing. We went into Boston, San Jose, LA, those types of teams. If we play the right way, manage the puck, do the right things and special teams play well for us, then we can play with these teams. To me that's the biggest thing to take away [from the road trip]. It might not been like that a year ago.
